The Healing, Outreach, and Peer Engagement for Mothers (HOPE) Initiative connects people with peer support and practical care during pregnancy and after birth.

Who should be referred

Pregnant and postpartum individuals with substance use disorder, or co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions.

What participants receive

  • Peer support from Certified Peer Specialists with lived experience
  • Care coordination and help navigating substance use treatment
  • Connections to prenatal and postpartum care
  • Overdose prevention education and access to naloxone resources
  • Help connecting with housing, transportation and childcare

Most pregnancy-related deaths in Missouri are preventable; earlier behavioral health screening, treatment and connection to resources can help (Missouri Pregnancy-Associated Mortality Review).
