About Dr. Jesse Davis
Jesse A. Davis is a newborn hospitalist in the Division of Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine and Senior Clinical Advisor for BJC Healthcares community health improvement team. He uses implementation science, health economics and policy, and social entrepreneurship to maximize social impact and achieve more equitable health outcomes. He truly believes in breaking down silos across sectors to build dynamic, impact-driven, collaborations. He is uniquely qualified for this work given his training in both medicine (M.D.) and business (M.B.A.). In his time at Washington University, he served on and initiated multiple collaborative projects aimed at improving outcomes for birthing people and infants. He is the founder and director of the Fathers First Initiative, which was developed in response to a need to enrich paternal engagement in the St. Louis Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This multi-sector collaborative has influenced many fathers in the NICU, and St. Louis community, and has revealed its public health implications for the future. He is the creator and lead on the Feed the Babies project, developed in response to the infant formula shortage, which is responsible for the distribution of over 6,000 oz of pasteurized donor breastmilk to the community. The project also contributed to the establishment of a black led milk dispensary/depot that provides access to infant nutrition in Ferguson, MO. His research interests involve 1) studying the impact of paternal involvement on infant and maternal health outcomes and 2) studying the implementation outcomes of multi-sector collaborations with a goal to improve the efficacy and efficiency of social impact ventures that advance public health. He was recently appointed to the board of directors for Generate Health and The Milk Bank. His diverse array of experiences and expertise make him well-suited to serve as the next Vice President of Strategy and Chief Medical Officer for the St. Louis Integrated Health Network.
