About Emily LaCour, LMSW
Emily LaCour began with the IHN in July 2019 as a Community Referral Coordinator at Mercy Hospital St. Louis. She graduated with a Masters of Social Work from University of Missouri- St. Louis. Previously, Emily worked for six years as a Certified Application Counselor for the Health Insurance Marketplace at the International Institute. Due to this experience, she is well versed in immigrant eligibility for health coverage programs in Missouri. This experience has also developed an interest in making healthcare more culturally competent and accessible for immigrants and people with limited English proficiency. She is also interested in women’s health, particularly perinatal and reproductive health. Emily participates in the IHN Transitions of Care Task Force and Cover Missouri Coalition. Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending time with her husband and two young daughters, trying new foods/restaurants and traveling or being a tourist in her own city. In her down time, she is an avid book reader. When asked why she is glad to be a part of the IHN and its commitment to excellence, Emily shares, “I am passionate about making healthcare accessible and affordable for all people, especially immigrants, the uninsured and people living in poverty. I am excited to be a part of an organization that shares this passion and is working to create change on a micro, mezzo and systemic level.”
